I just saw this woman on MSNBC talking about P.U.M.A.’s (which I thought would be a new word for women over 35 who liked younger dudes), but nope. It stands for Party Unity My Ass. Now, as a liberal LA Jew, descended from liberal New York Jews and some liberal Pacific Northwest agnostic Scots-Irish, I have to say I was interested in what this woman had to say about the “JustSayNoDeal” coalition. And even better, why she’s going to vote for McCain and not Obama, even though she’s a Democrat.
After a morning of watching the McCain people try yet another new tack to go at Obama with (”Obama is a political opportunist, McCain is ‘politically courageous’”), which I saw be parried successfully only hours after first being rolled out, and reading about the Obama book coming out from the same publisher that put out the Swiftboat book, I figured that would be it for the day. But no… this lady gets on and talks about how Obama is “not for me,” but offers no substance why. So, I check out the website, and it’s obviously some like… swift boating, (b)latently racist shit. It’s a joke. They offer no substance of their own ideological opposition to Obama, only give you a blog with links to negative stuff on Obama. Be for real.
I can’t wait to see how the Dems are going to parry this one and make the right look foolish again. To see how they’ve turned the campaign financing thing around masterfully onto McCain’s illegal loans he’s funding his campaign with, not to mention the money he still owes his wife for borrowing her jet, has been great. Anyway, the P.U.M.A.s are some fakers.
I’ve been thinking about other shit besides my music stuff to post on here. Last night, I was at a BBQ at a friend’s and I heard people still talking about Latarian Milton and acting like it’s funny and a joke and so cool and hip. It’s some racism. If his name was like… Moishe Goldsman, people wouldn’t be tripping on the story. If he was a 9-year old white kid with a mullet, people wouldn’t trip on him.
Even worse, he’s obviously got some emotional problems, as evidenced by the fact his grandmother is raising him, and that he’s seen his mother be abused. How is that shit funny? If he was a mentally (or even emotionally) handicapped white kid, would it be funny? If he looked like many of the hipster blognicenti, if it lacked what my buddy Matt Dilmore called the “irony factor” that these hipsters, who probably did the same kind of shit back in middle America before they moved to LA or Brooklyn or wherever they found “culture.”
Beyond that, people need to see that this kid’s been put in the system at 7 years old. How many hipster bloggers have been unjustly arrested? Before they were 10? Not like… “I wasn’t even that drunk when I left the club” type shit, but like… on some really unjust shit. It seems like that part of the story is completely ignored when people are getting their little giggle on to this video.
There has been a story in the news that caught my eye about a kid that stole his moms car and crashed it THIS WEEK, AND WAS NOT ARRESTED OR “PUT INTO THE SYSTEM SO HE COULD GET THE HELP HE NEEDS.” But when I googled “kid+steals+mom’s+car+crashes,” I just got a ton of hits for Latarian, having to dig through pages and pages, until I found this.
I guess it’s not so funny because he looks like he’d be riding a fixy through Billysburg with that haircut. Hipsters… stop being racist.
