From a time when Dre had carte blanche. Jimmy Z on flute, from the album Muzical Madness on Ruthless Records, which also featured gems like “Hip Hop Harmonica” and “Who’z Leroy.” It’s funny how Dre keeps having these weird career moments/missteps (World Class Wrecking Cru, slapping the shit outta Dee Barnes, Early Aftermath stuff, to name a few) and keeps chugging along. More power to the man.
My bud Them Jeans Stewy just put a bunch of photos up on his Flickr page of Bus and I playing the El Rey with Dizzee Rascal and El-P. I’ll have my photos from the tour up as soon as I sift through them.
FMB, which no matter what the video says, is Daedelus and Taz, and one of the other dudes from Sa-Ra, have made this Obama tribute jammie. When Daedelus played at Cinespace on April 22, I went, and I recorded this vid of them playing the song live. Whatever reservations I have about the song, and I have a few, I think it’s good to see young people hyped on politics.
I’ve been trying to update my internet stuff a bit more regularly. Working on a couple of ideas as to how to make this blog a bit more useful to myself and a bit more interesting to anyone who actually checks it. But for now, check out some photos on the Flickr page from when Bus and I went to Pittsburgh to play Carnagie Mellon U’s last day of class and Bus got the key to the city from the borough of Avalon, PA.
Also, I’ve updated my slamxhype blog with some posts about music and movie stuff.
